Happy Tuesday!  I hope you all had a long, relaxing weekend.  We did our second road trip this summer up to wine country where we stayed mostly in Sonoma.  It was a fabulous weekend of wine tasting, lazy afternoons by the pool, and early dinners at some of the best restaurants in the area.

These photos were taken during our second day, wine tasting at Gundlach Bundschu.  It’s one of my favorite wineries — I love their Gewurztraminer — and our little family of three had a fun picnic on the winery grounds.  It was a sweltering day (all weekend we were in the 90s) so I kept cool all day in my off-the-shoulder dress from Chicwish.

More wine and good food from Sonoma coming up later this week!  How was your long weekend?

Brand New Month

FathersDay15

Happy 1st of July!  Can you believe we are starting a brand new month already?  Today also marks the first day I return to work from my maternity leave.  Four months have definitely flown by fast.  So much personal growth happened in these four months as I learn more about myself as a new mom and wife (and the emotional roller coasters that go with this!).  It’s bittersweet as I end my ‘full-time mom’ mode and ease back into work.  It’s true that becoming a mom really changes you and changes that way you think about things.

This month I’m looking forward to a (hopefully) smooth transition for baby and finding a happy medium between work and family (knowing that there’s no perfect work-life balance).  I’m also looking forward to some upcoming weekend trips with my little family.  What are you all looking forward to in July?  Hope you are enjoying your summer!

Lakeside Brunch

Mother'sDay

I hope you all had a great weekend and were able to spend time with family for Mother’s Day!  This was my first Mother’s Day and my two boys (husband + baby) treated me to a sweet brunch with a lakeside view and pampered me with flowers, cards, and gifts.  While we couldn’t eliminate all the baby fussiness on Sunday (he’s 2 months old!), baby A gave plenty of coos, smiles, and giggles.  Our ‘talks’ always melt my heart.  This was also my first time back in heels (not pictured) since the delivery and it felt so good!  Looking forward to inching my way back to more heel-wearing goodness.

Hope you have a great start to the week!

A Change in Accessory

I mentioned in a previous post that I don’t carry handbags much these days when I head out the door.  That’s because I have a new accessory now: the diaper bag.  When I was pregnant I looked for a diaper bag that was both stylish and functional.  I also gravitated towards a bag that was neutral, since, the hubby would be lugging this around as well.  I found ‘the one’ at Pottery Barn Kids.  They have a huge collection in all different shapes, sizes and patterns.  In the end I made out with two (one was a gift and smaller in size).  I carry this gray one and love that it is roomy, filled with pockets, and also lightweight (a big bonus especially when you’ve filled it with every baby thing you own!).  We also monogrammed ours for a nice touch.  Check out more at Pottery Barn Kids…below are some other ones I like.

First month with a newborn…check!  It has been a crazy and intense, yet amazing first month with baby A.  Unfortunately, the blog has been low in priority so sorry for the hiatus these last couple of weeks.  Now that we’re in month two, baby is cooing and ‘talking’ to us and we’re getting so many social smiles.  It makes these difficult weeks all worth it!

We decided to take advantage of the gorgeous spring weekend and take baby out for an afternoon stroll.  It gave me the opportunity to put on something other than pj’s.  While hazy, the last two pictures were taken from our walk (from my iPhone).  I am sans accessories – especially a handbag – since, with baby, you don’t always have the hands to carry one.  This striped dress (always love my stripes!) was a maternity dress I bought during the pregnancy but never wore.  It’s easy to put on and hides some postpartum weight I still have to lose.

It’s a brand new week so I hope your Monday is off to a great start!
