A little over a week ago, I co-hosted a baby shower for my wonderful college friend, Susan, who is having a baby girl. It was held in her gorgeous and lush backyard and as you can see, the theme was “Baby-Q”. Susan loves farm animals so we tried to incorporate animals into the decor (how cute are those goody-bags?) . The expecting couple also love to travel so we had a framed picture of the Eiffel Tower (in pink of course) and asked all the guests to sign the ‘guestbook’. It makes for a perfect addition to the baby girl’s nursery. All in all, a sweet and fun afternoon celebrating Susan, her husband, and the arrival of their baby.
I recently discovered a Parisian-inspired line called Maison Jules (exclusively sold at Macy’s) and just love the entire collection, especially the dresses. They recently had a big summer sale and I scooped up several of the dresses including the pink gingham maxi dress above. I love it when I discover a new brand and fall in love with everything. Fall items are in stock now so away we go shopping!

Happy Friday! It’s been a busy week and I am ready for this weekend to start! Although it will be a packed weekend with baby showers and birthday parties (for kids), I am looking forward to spending time with friends and family. Lately, we’ve been soaking up every last drop of sunshine and summer with grilling and lounging on our patio. The above picture captures some of our recent libations. I can’t believe we are nearing the end of August already.
It’s been a while since I’ve posted a roundup of “links I love” so I’ll end this week with some of my current favorites.
- I recently discovered the site Chicwish. It offers trendy and (very) affordable clothes and accessories. Love!
- It seems clothing subscription services are still on the rise. There’s Stitch Fix, where a personal stylist hand picks 5 items that are sent to you each month. Keep what you want and send the rest back. Lately, I’ve read about Le Tote, where you can purchase or rent clothing and accessories each month. Have any of you jumped on these monthly subscriptions?
- Summer might be winding down, but I’m already planning my next vacation. Song of Style‘s recent travels to Italy inspire a European trip for next year.
- For all you mommies out there, I am loving all baby clothes from Carter’s. They’ve got the cutest styles around and are of great quality. A+ in my book.
- This alfresco bash should convince anyone to throw one more outdoor picnic/party/bbq before fall knocks on our door.
That’s all for now…thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!
Paris is always a good idea. After having visited Paris a number of times, I would like to make the hop south to southern France where the land of chateaux and lavender fields abound. I’m talking about Loire Valley and Provence.
From the beautiful architecture to the gorgeous landscape, these historic towns would make for a very romantic trip. Time to get planning…
Hope you’re having a great week!

Now that we are in the thick of summer, combat those hot days with an easy one-piece romper. Stick with neutrals for the outfit and punch everything up with colorful accessories…such as this peach-orange clutch. You’re good to go!
A neutral, striped dress and heels…perfect to take you from work to happy hour!
Happy 1st of July! Can you believe we are starting a brand new month already? Today also marks the first day I return to work from my maternity leave. Four months have definitely flown by fast. So much personal growth happened in these four months as I learn more about myself as a new mom and wife (and the emotional roller coasters that go with this!). It’s bittersweet as I end my ‘full-time mom’ mode and ease back into work. It’s true that becoming a mom really changes you and changes that way you think about things.
This month I’m looking forward to a (hopefully) smooth transition for baby and finding a happy medium between work and family (knowing that there’s no perfect work-life balance). I’m also looking forward to some upcoming weekend trips with my little family. What are you all looking forward to in July? Hope you are enjoying your summer!

From my previous posts, you’ll see I’ve had long hair for the last 6 months. Knowing that I would be dealing with a newborn and have zero time to style my hair each day (so true), I grew my hair long so that I could easily pull it up into a ponytail. It was a good idea for a while. I soon discovered it took extra time to wash and dry my hair (for those days that I did wash it). Also, once the baby became aware of his hands and fingers, he started to grab and tug at my long strands. Since summer is upon us, I decided it was time for a hair cut and style change.
et voila, we have the long the bob! It’s a great length for those who want to dabble with short hair but don’t want to go all the way to a short bob. The long bob is getting a lot of attention this season and you’ll see many celebrities going for this shorter style.
It feels refreshing to have short hair, will take me seconds to wash it, and the styling is easy. The fun part was getting some highlights — a little bit of caramel highlights running through the top half of my hair. My stylist also gave me a bit of ombre highlights in the back.
There you have it. A shorter, brighter look for the new season!
Hello world! I know it’s been quiet over here at Morning Espresso. This past week, we welcomed our little baby, Anton, to our family. He was born on March 10 at a whopping 8 lbs 8 oz. It’s true when they say that caring for a newborn is the most intense on-the-job training you’ll ever go through. From the emotional thrill of birth, to the 24/7 feeding sessions and diaper changes (what sleep?), to the long road to recovery, I finally feel like a human being again after a week and a half. It’s really nice just to have the time to take a shower and get dressed. Yet through all the challenges, our hearts are full for this little guy and we love him to the moon and back.
Speaking of getting dressed, I hope to be able to get back in the game soon and share some fresh content on the blog. Hope you’re having a wonderful week!
Happy February! It’s crazy to think that a little over a month ago, I was in Kauai on my babymoon. Now, we are counting down the days until this little bambino arrives. How time flies! This month, I will be focused on wrapping up work, organizing around the house, getting in movie and date nights, and catching any extra sleep I can get. Luckily, I still feel energetic and mobile and can get around physically. Although, I wouldn’t mind being in nesting mode from here on out…
Any plans or goals for February? Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! Look for a post later this week on what’s on my wish-list for Valentine’s Day — if only I could still fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans!
This weekend my closest friends threw me a beautiful and fun baby shower. Most of the shower was a surprise up until the very end when I walked into the room. There were creative stations setup around the room for people to take part in and the food (and drink) spread were amazing. I couldn’t have asked for a better shower!
The shower was co-ed so most of my girlfriends brought their husbands and we also had many children–and adorable babies–join in on the party. I have yet to collect all the pictures taken from everyone’s cameras and phones, but here are some that I have to share.
Hope you’re having a wonderful week so far!
