It’s been crazy hectic at work these days and the new year has proven a lot is in store for 2014!As I scramble to get everything done for timelines and different projects, I like to take step back, breathe, and enjoy a little downtime (read: reading a good book and having a glass of wine!).  Reading is so therapeutic and I hope to do more of that this year.

I would love to know what you do to keep your going during busy days?  Please share!  xoxo

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!  Now that we’re halfway through the first month of the new year (anyone still putting away the last bits of holiday decor?), I thought I would perk up my lip color arsenal and refresh my stash with some new additions.  Since I have a several after-work events to attend this week, I can’t wait to sport these new colors and share with you!

In the spirit of trying new things, I picked up a range of colors this weekend:

Bobbi Brown High Shimmer Lip Gloss in Pastel

Bite Beauty Pencil in Cranberry

MAC Lipstick in Up the Amp

MAC Lip Pencil in Magenta

NARS Lipstick in Funny Face

Have a great week!

We are already approaching the last few weeks of summer – the season’s flying by fast!  (Well, if you live in the Bay Area, particularly San Francisco, you may have another month or two of summer left).

One of the hottest colors of Pre-Fall is chic gray.  It’s a great base color to start with and then spice up with pops of color from accessories.  I’ll be adding gray to the list for my fall shopping!

Have you started thinking about Pre-Fall yet?

My holiday soiree is tonight! I have been on a roll as a party hostess this holiday season. This will be the third cocktail party/dinner/get-together I’ll have hosted before Christmas. While I had plenty of planning for the last two (those were during the 4-day long Thanksgiving weekend), for tonight’s, not so much. But with some holiday DIY, easy recipes, and adding some sparkle to a favorite dress, I think I’ll be okay. The best part that I’m looking forward to tonight? Seeing my BFF! She’s coming from Texas with her fiance to attend and hang out. Cannot wait to catch up over some champagne.

Drum roll please…have a look at my inspiration for this soiree:

1. Loving this Madewell emerald dress (Pantone’s 2013 color!) paired with a jewel-toned barrette. Image from Lucky Magazine.

2. Channeling some holiday DIY from Iowa Girl Eats. Spruce and Berry Filled Mason Jars: easy, simple, and a whole lotta fun!

3. Chocolate Fondue! Probably second on my list of what I’m looking forward to tonight. I am a chocolate lover through and through and I can’t wait to dip a strawberry in some luscious, milky soft chocolate. Totally worth skipping dinner for! Here is a recipe I like.

Happy party season!

I’m in the market for a new lipstick (maybe gloss!) and I’ve been thinking about continuing the burgundy trend with the burgundy lip.  I have stuck with my NARS Semi-Matte lipstick in Flamenco for most of summer and into fall.   It’s a cranberry/candy red apple color that looks great on my skin tone.  But the merlot/wine-stained lip?  I’m not sure…but am game to try!  These are a few that I’m eye-ing right now:

What do you all think??
