Perfect Winter Coat

Here we are at the start of another week!  How the weekend time flies, no?  As you may have gathered from my last couple of posts, it has been lightly raining in the past few days.  This is welcome rain given our “unofficial” drought situation in the Bay Area.  I’ve been bundled up in cashmere sweaters, wool coats and boots and spent a lot of cozy time on the couch with my new Kindle Paperwhite.

I scored this super chic wool coat from Ann Taylor recently and have not been able to stop wearing it.  It’s warming, has a great cut and color and goes with just about anything in my closet.  This is a good thing given some hurried mornings when I need to grab the first jacket I see and run out the door!

Hope you all have a fantastic Monday!

Color Me Cool

Although the work week has just begun, it’s already getting really busy!  The next few weeks will be full of networking receptions, conferences, training classes, happy hours, and work trips.  With a more hectic schedule, it’s great that I can incorporate some casual elements to my work wardrobe.  For example, this bright and poppy fuchsia sweater would pair well with a dark knee length skirt.  Comfortable chic…a good motto to have!

One side note…I’m hoping all my friends out in the Midwest, particularly Chicago, are keeping warm in the freezing weather!

Pretty Peplum

Winter vacation is officially over!  Although I started work towards the end of last week, I was working from home, things were quiet in the office, and it still felt like vacation.

While (inevitably) sad that my two weeks of vacation has ended, I am nevertheless feeling energized and pumped for what is in store for the upcoming year.  I’m not a big “resolutions” person, but I do have a few goals I hope to work towards and accomplish by the end of the year.

This outfit is what I wore on New Year’s Eve.  I kept the look simple and chic, adding a hint of sparkle from my necklace.  I love, love this peplum top (from Tibi) and it’s the perfect dark green for winter.  Though the holidays are over, let’s all keep the sparkle and energy alive throughout the year!

Cheers to a brand new week and a happy Monday!  xoxo

3rd Street Promenade

Hello – we are back in the Bay Area after an incredible week in Los Angeles.  My goal in the next two days is to detox a little bit before the big New Year’s Eve night.  Not sure if it can be done, but I’ll give it a try.

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and got in some family time over the past week.  I took a few days off last week from blogging, but happy to be back!

These photos were taken from one of our walks down 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica.  This is one of my favorite places to visit in LA because of all the cute restaurants, coffee shops, and of course, shopping.  During Christmas, 3rd Street gets even more lively and entertaining.

Still deciding on what to wear for NYE, but plans are starting to shape up for the year’s most glittery and sparkly night.  What are you doing to celebrate?  Please share!

Downtown LA

Merry Christmas Eve!

These photos were taken while we explored downtown Los Angeles.  One of our favorite spots in the city is Grand Central Market, home to delicious finds EggSlutLA and G&B coffee.  We also explored a bit of the MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) museum store and walked along the city’s business district.

LA is warm by day with cooler nights during this time of year.  I wore this Rebecca Taylor Tweed Moto Vest to keep me warm and when needed, donned my scarf for an added layer.  Layering is definitely the way to go!

Big Red

These are some photos from holiday shopping earlier this week.  As you can tell from my happy smiles and the bounce in my step, I’ve caught the “holiday cheer” bug!  I just love this time of year.  Everything is festive and I do enjoy the busy shopping experience — just a great feeling to find the right gift for the right person.

I’m counting down the days until we leave for LA.  We’ll be there all next week to see family and friends for Christmas.  LA is always a fun trip…our home away from home.

Winter Neutrals

This time of year, nothing says “it’s the holidays” quite like a cashmere sweater and cashmere accessories!  Though we are not experiencing a snow storm as my family and friends out in the East Coast and Midwest are, it’s definitely still sweater weather around here.  Each here, I tend to add a cashmere item or two during the winter, especially around the holidays.

Here, I’m really loving the tone-on-tone neutrals of my cashmere sweater and scarf, letting my statement necklace shine on its own.  Pairing the warm colors of the top with a dark green wool skirt just feels very festive…this would be a great Christmas day look!

Have a great Tuesday and thanks for stopping by the blog!

Drop it Low

One of my favorite dress silhouettes is the drop waist.  This style goes back to the 1920’s when women’s fashion was changing at a fast speed.  A drop waist dress is essentially when the waist of the dress drops below your natural waist, elongating the body and thus making your body appear leaner.  Functional and fashionable!

The style is popping up everywhere and it is a continuing trend into Spring 2013.  Here are some I would love to add to the wishlist:

Don’t Skirt the Issue

Darling Tiered Sequin Skater Skirt

I’ve been on a skirt kick lately and have found that a patterned or embellished skirt makes dressing in the morning so easy.  Pair the skirt with a solid tank top or simple sweater and you’re done. The best skirts go from work to happy hour to dinner and serve multiple engagements, especially during this time of year.  The skirts I’ve featured here can be found at ASOS ( or at my wardrobe (, an online luxury fashion boutique from the UK).

Here are a few I would love to get my hands on.
